RICHARDSON, Texas -- Anritsu Company introduces the AD14113 and AD14109 photodetectors that use proprietary technology to deliver high sensitivity and strong resiliency to optical overload. The performance of the AD14113 and AD14109, as well as their ability to drive a variety of circuits, make them well suited for design into 10 Gbit/s optical transmission systems, such as SDH/SONET networks.

The AD14113 is a PIN photodiode with a transimpedance amplifier (PIN+TIA) that incorporates a unique waveguide launched PIN structure with 0.95 A/W sensitivity. The result is that the AD14113 has exceptional back-to-back sensitivity of -21 dBm for NRZ signals at 10.7 Gbit/s. For longer transmission distances, Anritsu has developed the AD14109 avalanche photodiode with a transimpedance amplifier (APD+TIA). The AD14109 has improved sensitivity of typically -26 dBm for 10Gbit/s NRZ signals.

Incorporating a surface mount design, the AD14113 and AD14109 have small footprints so they can be easily designed as receivers in both short and long haul transponder/transceiver applications. In addition, both photodetectors incorporate automatic offset controls that minimize the need for external control circuitry.

Production samples of the AD14113B and AD14109B are available, and order production is now available.
