ACTON, Mass. -- Azimuth(TM) Systems, Inc., innovators in scalable, automated wireless network test platforms, today announced it has closed $10.5 million in equity funding, bringing the total investment in the company to $23.5 million. The newest funding round, co-led by current investors North Bridge Venture Partners and Kodiak Venture Partners, will be used to scale sales and customer support while continuing to drive Azimuth's success in the exploding wireless data communications equipment market. Azimuth will also fund development of its next generation WLAN test platform. Azimuth's test systems have emerged as the definitive platform for validating the functionality, interoperability and performance of wireless data communications devices and networks.

Azimuth has rapidly developed a customer base of leading Wi-Fi silicon and equipment manufacturers. In addition to these industry leaders, a number of test laboratories have begun to standardize their functionality, interoperability, performance and certification testing on the Azimuth W-Series Test Platform. Azimuth's announced customer relationships include leading Wi-Fi silicon vendor Broadcom and equipment vendor Symbol Technologies, as well as industry test labs UNH's IOL, Network World's "Real-Labs" at Syracuse University, PC Magazine Labs, Miercom Labs, Tolly Group, Iometrix and NBL Taiwan. Azimuth's success is an indication of the growing need for wireless network test platforms coupled with Azimuth's strength in delivering reliable and repeatable test solutions.

"Azimuth's mission is to be the world's leading wireless data communications test supplier through continuous innovation," noted Azimuth CEO Ray Cronin. "We are well on our way to achieving that goal and this additional funding allows us to scale our customer base, while continuing to innovate in both Wi-Fi and other rapidly moving wireless data communications markets."

Since the company's launch in November 2003, Azimuth has widely shipped its W-Series Test Platform, the industry's first standard test platform for system level testing of 802.11 wireless access points, clients and other devices. Azimuth has also been recognized with several industry awards: In December 2003, the company won the "Best of Show" at Wi-Fi Planet, and in July 2004, it won "Best of Show" at Networld + Interop Tokyo. In December 2003, Azimuth's CTO and founder was named one of New England's "Top Ten Women to Watch" by Mass High Tech.

"The Azimuth team has done an excellent job in difficult times of executing against plan and building a portfolio of top customers," said Angelo Santinelli of North Bridge Ventures. "The opportunity is large and growing and we are pleased to continue to support the team's efforts to be a leader in this space."

Ilan Carmi of Kodiak Venture Partners commented, "Wireless data communication is transforming technology, and will ultimately change our world. Azimuth has developed the test technology that forms the fundamental basis of this industry. By bringing a unique concept to market, the Azimuth solution provides significant value and leadership to which the industry is responding."
