There is this notion of relevant advertising and how it is better.  Actually, it is NOT better.  Viewers want NO advertising.  They can't get that so they put up with advertising.   People DVR things that they don't need to time shift just to eliminate advertising.  This notion that ad retargeting is "liked" is simply a lie that people make up to justify collecting data to allow the function to happen.  It won't go away.  But please don't insult our intelligence telling us that we like ads for things we searched for.  It is a form of "fake news".
