COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Unitrends (www.unitrends.com), a pioneer in the development of Rapid Business System recovery products and services, today announced the promotion of Sterling Wharton to the post of President and Chief Executive Officer.

Mr. Wharton, who joined Unitrends in May as Executive Vice President, takes on added responsibilities for designing and implementing all phases of Unitrends’ corporate strategy. In his short time with the company, Unitrends has already focused its positioning within the multi-billion dollar business systems continuity market, while broadening and strengthening its relationships with its national network of channel partners.

Unitrends becomes the third company where Mr. Wharton has served as chief executive officer. In his prior posts, he repeatedly established and grew revenues to more than $300 million annually at numerous companies, leading to two successful IPOs and three corporate acquisitions. At each of the firms where he has served in a leadership role, Mr. Wharton has established and grown profitable partner and channel programs.

“Sterling’s experience of more than 20 years as a high-technology leader has quickly paid dividends,” said Larry Wilson, Unitrends’ board chairman. “His leadership and go-to-market knowledge will help us focus our energies on moving the company to the next level. As Chief Executive Officer, he will assume the leadership role of designing and implementing the changes we need to succeed in the marketplace.”
