FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Global Crossing (Nasdaq: GLBC - News) announced today that it is providing Sonus Networks (Nasdaq: SONS - News) with a managed IP VPN connecting corporate sites in North America, Europe and Asia. A customer for private line and audio conferencing services since 2000, Sonus Networks selected Global Crossing as its managed IP VPN provider based on its convergence expertise, service excellence, and global reach.

"Sonus is expanding its global presence to efficiently capture and deliver on the tremendous opportunities in the VoIP market. Given the mission-critical activities managed from these locations, Sonus needed a scalable, integrated solution," said Bert Notini, president and chief operating officer of Sonus Networks. "Global Crossing's IP VPN solution will deliver a high-performance option that facilitates communication around the globe, while seamlessly supporting our remote employees. Global Crossing has been a trusted technology provider to Sonus for more than five years, and we look forward to continuing our partnership."

A leading service provider of VoIP infrastructure solutions, Sonus Networks required a network solution to support the needs of its global workforce. The company wanted to run converged voice, video, and data traffic over a secure, global infrastructure backed by consistent service level agreements. In addition, Sonus Networks' employees needed to stay connected from anywhere in the world.

Global Crossing designed and is implementing a fully managed IP VPN to connect Sonus Networks' locations in the United States, UK and India. Sonus Networks' essential applications, including e-mail, file sharing, videoconferencing, and databases will be transported over Global Crossing's secure, private MPLS-based IP backbone, which is separate from the public Internet. This private platform enables Global Crossing to provide global enterprises with the security and performance they require.

"This agreement speaks strongly to our capabilities in bringing converged solutions to global customers and in expanding relationships with them as their business needs grow," said Paul O'Brien, Global Crossing's executive vice president, global enterprise and collaboration services. "Sonus Networks continues to rely on us to provide the flexible, advanced solutions that best support their business."
