SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Silicon Access Networks, an industryleader in semiconductor data path processing solutions, today announced itsiFlow™ Packet Processor (iPP), a breakthrough network packet processor, supporting full-duplex data rates of 20 gigabits per second (Gbps)—doublethat of competing solutions. The iPP is part of the iFlow Data PathProcessing Platform (DP3), which is ideal for Metropolitan/EnterpriseGigabit Ethernet and Packet-over-SONET applications.“The iPP represents a significant architectural advance over traditionalnetwork processor design approaches,” said Mitch Kahn, vice president ofmarketing for Silicon Access Networks. “By implementing a multi-processorarchitecture based on an in-house designed network-specific processor, wehave eliminated the tremendous inefficiencies of RISC-based approaches. Thenet result is packet processing performance an order of magnitude fasterthan current solutions and throughput double that of expected 10Gbps NPUs.”Silicon Access Networks Inc.
