Sigma-Links Intros 4-Gig FC Transceiver

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- SIGMA-LINKS INC., the joint venture between the major Japanese electronics giant Fujikura Ltd. and OKI Electric Industry Co., Ltd., unveils its lead-free and RoHS (Restrictions on Hazardous Substances) compliant quad rates 4.25/2.125/1.25/1.0625 Gbps optical transceivers for Fibre Channel and GbE markets.

Partnering with the innovative silicon IC vendor, Phyworks Ltd., SIGMA-LINKS is one of the earliest companies to market the 4.25Gbps SFF and SFP meeting RoHS compliance restrictions and Lead-Free requirement. These modules are initially available in 850 nm VCSEL Small Form-factor Pluggable SFP SL9114A-2202 and 2x7 fixed Small Form Factor SFF SL9117A-2202 at nearly 2G device pricing.

These transceivers will meet the European Union directives passed recently to restrict the usage of RoHS material in electrical and electronic equipment beginning July 1, 2006. Along with meeting high market demands, this early release will also benefit system vendors who are scrambling to meet the July 2006 dead-line for RoHS compliant systems.

These transceivers are backward compatible with 2/1-Gbps data rate. Among other features is the Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM) function that adds real-time intelligence to the transceiver, enabling the host to query in real-time key parameters such as optical receive and transmit power, supply voltage, bias current, and module temperature.
