LONDON -- Nominum, the leading provider of network naming and addressing solutions, and Acme Packet, the leader in session border control solutions, today announced a partnership to provide VoIP Peering solutions to the communications industry. The combination of Acme Packet's Net-Net session border controller family and Nominum’s Navitas ENUM-based IP-application routing directory brings to market a high performance, low latency VoIP interoperability solution that lowers operating expenses for communication providers.

Acme Packet’s session border controllers allow high quality interactive communications – voice, video and multimedia sessions – across IP network borders and satisfies the demands for security, service reach maximization, SLA assurance, revenue and profit protection and regulatory compliance. Nominum’s Navitas ENUM-based IP-application routing directory server enables the connection of advanced IP-based communications services between separate networks. Combined, these technologies fill an essential role in emerging VoIP peering architectures and IP Multimedia Subsystems (IMS), providing greater visibility into the routing infrastructure and accelerating the delivery of high quality, low cost VoIP and advanced IP services.

“Demonstrating the interoperability of Nominum Navitas and Acme Packet’s SBCs is one of the first steps in demonstrating the role of our ENUM-based IP Application Routing Directory,” said Tom Tovar, vice president of worldwide sales and business development, Nominum, Inc. “With Navitas, communications providers are able to deploy a range of ENUM functionality for converging network interconnections and begin to reap the benefits of a true end-to-end IP-based solution.”

”VoIP peering is in high-demand and our tier one service provider customers are planning for rapid growth of voice traffic exchanged with direct IP connections,” said Mario Oliveira, Acme Packet’s vice president business development. “Combining session border control and ENUM directories will aid that growth and be key to delivering secure, reliable and efficient peering solutions.”
