EAST GRANBY, Conn. -- Nufern, a leading U.S. manufacturer of specialty optical fibers and fiber lasers, announced today that it has achieved ISO 9001:2000 certification at the company’s headquarters and manufacturing facility in East Granby, CT. The registration audit was conducted by TUV Rheinland of North America.
Founded in 2000, Nufern has diligently worked over its eight-year history to operate according to demanding third-party standards. Nufern products have achieved mission critical flight and space qualifications, and are tested to Telcordia standards. “In each market we serve with our fiber technology, from telecom to military and aerospace to industry,” said Kanishka Tankala, VP of Operations, “we want to inspire our customers’ confidence that we bring them the broadest and deepest range of capabilities in the global marketplace.”
The ISO 9001:2000 certification demonstrates Nufern’s commitment to exceeding customer expectations through intelligent, controlled processes. Tim Mulcahy is the Quality Manager who shepherded Nufern’s integrated teams through their year-long transition to a fully ISO 9001:2000-conforming quality management system. “Being ISO [9001:2000] certified is a powerful statement that demonstrates the commitment of the Nufern team to serve our customers’ needs and strengthens our dedication to quality and continual improvement,” said Mulcahy.
International Standards Organization (ISO) is the worldwide entity dedicated to coordinating and publishing ISO 9000 and other international standards. The ISO 9001:2000 standard provides a framework around which a quality management system can be effectively planned and documented. Obtaining ISO 9001:2000 certification assures a company’s customers that it operates using the highest quality standards as verified by a qualified independent registrar.
