IPtronics Adds TIA
IPtronics enables drastic power savings while increasing throughput capacity
October 12, 2007
ROSKILDE, Denmark -- IPtronics low power 4 channel VCSEL Driver and TransImpedance amplifier features the lowest power in the industry for next generation optical parallel transmission modules and active cables. IPtronics silicon already enable module manufacturers in Japan, US and Europe to offer solutions dissipating less than 8mW/Gbps (for a transceiver solution), running at up to 12.5Gbps/channel
The chip set from IPtronics will enable module manufactures to compete with existing solutions on mainly power dissipation, but also parameters such as cost, weight, EMI ao. Compared to copper links system manufacturers will experience power savings of a factor of 10. Compared to existing optical links, system manufacturers can expect 4 to 5 times lower power than modules currently available in the market place.
This leads to operational expenditure savings as well as capital expenditure savings enabling system manufacturers to go green as well as save money.
“I am excited that we can do our part to improve on the environment challenges of energy efficiency“ says Niels Finseth, CEO of IPtronics and adds “ not only do we enable technically superior products, we also help to reduce overall power consumption in a world of scarce resources”
In addition to enabling substantial power savings in the data centers, server farms and supercomputers, IPtronics also support customers “Green Procurement” policies.
