PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The collapse in telecom markets in 2000 through 2003 was felt worldwide, but one region fared far better than others: the Asia-Pacific. While global telecom capex fell 46 percent from 2000 to 2002, capex in Asia-Pacific fell just 26 percent. And spending in this region in 2003 and 2004 is beginning the recovery process.

KMI's new report, Prospects for Telecom Capex In Asia-Pacific, examines telecom capital expenditures and fiber deployment in the Asia-Pacific region. The report highlights seven specific country markets that account for more than 88 percent of region’s telecom spending. Telecom growth in each of those countries through 2005 and total fiber demand through 2008 is also forecasted.
