Princeton Lightwave Releases Chip

CRANBURY, N.J. -- Princeton Lightwave, Inc. (PLI), a leading provider of high performance active components, today announced its breakthrough Broadband GainChipTM (BGC), an Indium Phosphide-based semiconductor chip-on-carrier (CoC). The BGC enables customers to reach more than 40 milliwatts from an external cavity network source laser. This breaks the barrier for customers to offer more than double the power that is currently available while simultaneously tuning over an entire band.

"Collectively, these features enable our ECL customers to provide a cost-competitive, broadly tunable source laser that exceeds industry requirements," said John Connolly, Vice President of Engineering. "As a direct result, we anticipate an acceleration in the industry adoption of broadly tunable source lasers, and a corresponding increase in the market share that broadly tunable lasers claim from fixed and narrowly tunable source lasers."
