BROOKFIELD, CT -- Paragon Networks International today announced a technology agreement with HCL Technologies for the development of components for Paragon’s next generation Optical Access Switch for Wireless Service Providers. HCL Technologies, based in Chennai, India, has been providing hardware and software engineering since the beginning of the year for Paragon’s high performance IP Routing engine, a key component of the new Optical Switch platform. The new platform, called BROADway, builds on Paragon’s expertise in providing Wireless Service Providers with innovative transmission backhaul solutions. BROADway is designed to help Wireless Service Providers transition to next generation 2.5G and 3G IP-based services and is currently scheduled for beta introduction during the 4th quarter of this year.

The agreement with HCL Technologies added 25 dedicated software and hardware engineers to Paragon’s development efforts, and has allowed for nearly 24-hour-a-day design and testing on the new platform. HCL’s development team is working in close co-ordination with Paragon to implement Paragon’s high capacity BROADway platform, which combines features of IP Routing, SONET/SDH transport and granular circuit grooming capabilities. With the move, Paragon joins a host of leading network equipment providers that have partnered with HCL, known for their quality and timely delivery.
