HAMBURG -- Pandatel AG, the professional network technology provider, has developed the FOMUX C100 compact multiplexer primarily for price-sensitive carrier applications; the multiplexer is based on the highly cost-effective CWDM (Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing) technology. This means that small and midsize enterprises, too, can now make use of the benefits of optical networks for network access, LAN expansion, storage area networks (SANs), broadcast applications or computer centers.

The FOMUX C100 is capable of transmitting up to eight different applications via a single fiber pair, each with a maximum data speed of 2.5 Gbps. This enables even small-size companies to use high-performance fiber optic multiplexing technology with throughput rates of up to 20 Gbps, for example to transport ESCON, Fibre Channel or LAN data from one location to another or to improve the efficiency of their data storage through the use of an SAN solution.

Another advantage is the outstanding flexibility of the multiplexer, which adapts itself to company growth and can also be used in a wide variety of corporate infrastructures: all data speeds from 100 Mbps to 2.5 Gbps are supported. The protocol transparency of the FOMUX C100 permits the multiplexing of all types of signals, from Fast Ethernet and Fibre Channel to Gigabit Ethernet. To ensure straightforward operation, expansion or wavelength switchover, the multiplexer is equipped with quick-change SFB modules (SFB = small formfactor pluggables), which, together with the two redundant power supply modules, are readily accessible from the front of the unit.

The FOMUX C100 is suitable for point-to-point applications and on demand is offered in a version suitable for ring structures. It supports 2R signal reshaping and reboosting and can be enhanced with the addition of clock recovery (3R). SNMP- or web-based management ensures efficient system function supervision, while straightforward installation and integration into other SNMP platforms are guaranteed.
