FREMONT, Calif. -- Optoplex Corporation, a world-leading supplier of D(Q)PSK demodulator (aka delay-line interferometer or DLI) with a dominant position in the fast growing 40-Gb/s and next-generation optical communication components market, and Teleoptix, a leading supplier providing optical transceiver and component solutions for optical network equipments and systems, announce their successful joint development of an integrated 40-Gb/s DPSK receiver for high speed optical communication system.

The integrated receiver incorporates Optoplex’s well established micro-interferometer technology and Teleoptix’s innovative 40G balanced photodetector technology to offer an integrated demodulating solution to their customers. This integrated receiver provides the transponder manufacturers tremendous benefit by eliminating the burdensome and time-consuming fiber routing and component matching, especially for the skew control, and by reducing the footprint otherwise required by the two discrete components in the space-constrained 7”x5” MSA 300-pin module. The integrated receiver is a high performance, low-cost and much sought-after solution by transponder and sub-system designers today.

Optoplex and Teleoptix started their joint development project in 2008 after consultations with market leaders around the world. Samples of the 40G integrated DPSK receiver are now ready for customer evaluation.

“The integrated DPSK receiver offers, in a unique compact and robust package, a small-footprint, high-performance and, most importantly, very cost-effective solution”, said Dr. Andrea Brinciotti, General Manager of Teleoptix. Moreover “we look at this project as the beginning of long-lasting and strategic partnership for the release of next innovative products.”
