FREMONT, Calif. -- Oplink Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: OPLK), a leading Photonic Foundry and provider of optical networking components, today announced that it expects revenue for the second quarter of fiscal year 2006 to be in the range of $12.5 to $12.6 million, which represents a sequential increase of 17 to 18%. Strength in revenue in the quarter was driven by increased sales activity across all markets. As a result, Oplink anticipates a sequential improvement in net income, excluding expenses associated with its recent acquisition of F3 Inc. The acquisition was disclosed in Oplink's Form 10-Q quarterly report filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on November 14, 2005. On a GAAP basis, including acquisition-related expenses, Oplink anticipates a net loss for the second quarter. Additional financial information for the second quarter will be available when Oplink reports its final financial results in late January.

Oplink also announced that it will host a presentation to the investment community at the Eighth Annual Needham & Company Growth Conference on Tuesday, January 10, 2006. The conference will take place at the New York Palace Hotel in New York City.
