FREMONT, Calif. -- BaySpec, Inc., a leading volume supplier of optical modules and sub-systems, achieved record revenue and bookings for the last two calendar quarters ending March 31, 2006. Bookings for the last two quarters surpassed $8 million and revenues were $6 million. Both measures represented greater than 100 percent year over year growth.

BaySpec family of market leading monitoring products enable Agile Optical Networking, including 100 or 50 GHz DWDM Optical Channel Performance Monitors, 10/40 G/s mixing Optical Channel Performance Monitors, Ultra-wideband Optical Spectrum Analyzers, CWDM Optical Channel Performance Monitors, Athermal Mux/Demuxes and Intelligent EDFAs. Applications include: reconfigurable optical add/drop monitoring, physical layer monitoring for provisioning and commissioning optical networks, real-time fault detection and isolation in DWDM systems, EDFA gain balancing, channel power/ wavelength/ and OSNR measurements, and handheld battery-operated CWDM & DWDM field test equipment for low-cost testing in triple-play fiber deployments. Agile Optical Networks offer dynamic reconfigurability, advanced wavelength services, and reduced OpEx and CapEx.

Recent shipments into the fiber optic sensing industry demonstrates the expanded uses for BaySpec's compact, robust, low power consumption Optical Engines, which are already widely used in the Optical Telecommunication industry. Devices are applied by BaySpec's customers as the optical engines for optical spectrum analyzers (OSA) which provide fast, reliable and accurate readings of up to hundreds of remotely located Fiber-Bragg Gratings (FBGs) and Fabry-Perot fiber optic sensors. Manufactured to replace tunable filter based technologies in a wide variety of applications, these robust, self-contained OSA/optical interrogators instruments are designed to meet real-time dynamic structural health monitoring needs ranging from pressure, temperature, strain, displacement and vibration, etc.
