COPENHAGEN -- Alight Technologies A/S today announced it will present initial results from transferring its Photonic Bandgap technology on to the 1300nm VCSEL platform the company acquired from Infineon Technologies in September 2005.

By means of its proprietary PBG technology Alight is increasing the single mode output power of long wavelength VCSELs and Dan Birkedal, CTO of Alight Technologies A/S will present the paper “2.5 Gbit/s Modulation of 1300 nm Single-Mode Photonic Crystal VCSELs“ at the OFC conference (www.ofcnfoec.org) on Friday, March 10, 2006, 9:30 AM.

According to the abstract: “Long wavelength single fundamental mode photonic crystal VCSELs have been fabricated and demonstrated to deliver 1 mW output power up to 90°C. 2.5 Gbit/s modulation experiments show clear and open eyes.”

Alight’s 1300nm PBG-VCSEL’s are presently under development - Alight is also exhibiting at the upcoming OFC exhibition in Anaheim, California (booth #3044) from March 7 through March 9, 2006.
