BRACKNELL, U.K. -- VTLWaveNet today announced the expansion of its EMEA DWDM network to new locations in Switzerland, Belgium and France. The initial DWDM ring launched last year connecting London, Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Paris has proved so successful, VTLWaveNet is upgrading additional sections of its fibre network with DWDM equipment to form two new rings, connecting to Zurich and expanding the Brussels ring to Rotterdam, Antwerp and Biaches. In addition VTLWaveNet now can provide 10G Wavelengths across the UK, offering a high-bandwidth alternative to other providers plus easy connections to Europe and America for our customers.

"VTLWaveNet has shown very strong growth since its launch in March 2007, particularly with 2.5G and 10G Wavelengths and will be launching our 40G Wavelengths shortly," said Lucy Woods, CEO Viatel. "The expansion of our DWDM network, together with our competitive Dark Fibre pricing across our entire network, and availability of European collocation space has been responsible for our substantial success in the market. We are also one of only a very few suppliers able to provide Dark Fibre to Marseilles and across France. We are excited about our network business and expect to announce further upgrades over the next 6 months."
