SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- An integrated 10 Gb/s front-end optoelectronic receiver chipset for 1310 nm Intermediate and Long Reach applications that breaks the $100 price point was introduced today by OEpic, Inc. The emerging semiconductor company designs, manufactures and sells Optoelectronic Integrated Circuits for next generation, high-speed optical communications systems. The 10 Gb/s receiver chipset is designed for 10 G Ethernet and Fibre Channel datacom applications in Storage Area Networks (SAN), Local Area Networks (LAN) and Metro Networks. OEpic’s low-cost TO-46 packaging platform will enable lower-cost solutions for removing speed bottlenecks in metro and access networks. The 1310 nm receiver chipset, available in die form or in a low cost TO-46 (PT1030-TO), consists of a PIN photodetector (P1001-PS) and a transimpedance amplifier (TIA) (T1002-A), operating up to 12.5 Gb/s. The receiver chipset converts 1310 nm wavelength optical signals to electrical data and provides a standard, cost-effective solution to small form factor transceiver manufacturers.“Our corporate mission is to deliver complete optoelectronic front-end integrated solutions to the high-speed communications market with greater performance and cost effectiveness,” said Dr. Yi-Ching Pao, Founder, President and CEO of OEpic. “Our first 1310 nm products, building on our now-available 850 nm short reach products, will provide optical module manufacturers with highly integrated optical-to-electrical conversion, enabling lower-cost transceiver manufacturing and faster time to market.”OEpic Inc.
