Network Electronics premieres breakthrough modular router concept at NAB 2003 with the VikinX.128

MILLER PLACE, N.Y. -- Network Electronics, renowned for manufacturing and marketing VikinX(r) - the world's popular small and mid-sized router range, is beginning a new era in routing by introducing the VikinX.128 modular router concept to the US market at NAB 2003 (Booth SU7045). Network Electronics is also the manufacturer or flashlink(r) - a versatile, cost-effective optical transport platform, and the ConQuer(tm) line of signal processing products. VikinX.128, Network Electronics ASA's new 128x128 modular routing concept, provides a very compact frame, fully hot-swappable architecture, built-in dual redundant power supply and fully redundant controller functions. VikinX.128 builds from a base of 32x32 and can be expanded in 32x32 increments. VikinX.128 provides advanced control features like TCP/IP interface and SNMP agent, as well as a comprehensive surveillance of the router's vital parameters. The 128x128 SD/HD-SDI router has the lowest power consumption available in the world market, thus reducing the need for power and cooling. VikinX.128 supports data rates from 19.4Mbps to 540Mbps in the SDI version and 19.4Mbps to 1485Mbps in the HD-SDI version. SD and HD can be mixed in the same frame. Along with the serial digital routers Network Electronics offers a 128x128 analogue audio router complying with the toughest standards for audio routers. Control Panels are taking a quantum leap with the debut of Network Electronics' VikinX.128 Control System that features a completely new range of controls including full TCP/IP connectivity between routers and control panels allowing the use of standard Ethernet LAN enabling existing LANs to be used as a hardware platform for routing systems, even with other services running on the same LAN. VikinX.128 routers and panels follow the IEEE 802.3 standard. Long distance remote control is possible via TCP/IP Internet connections. Interconnection between routers and panels is simplified through usage of standardised CAT-5 cabling. Cost-efficiency is guaranteed as installation costs are minimized and maintenance is reduced to a small portion of the maintenance for the already existing LAN. In addition, Network Electronics will enrich its line of optical multiplexing products by offering all electrical to optical converters with CWDM lasers. Together with the well-known DWDM multiplexing technology this new development makes flashlink the most comprehensive line of optical transport equipment available. flashlink multi-channel WDM systems are based on either Coarse WDM (CWDM) or Dense WDM (DWDM). The CWDM system is available with 4 or 8 wavelengths, whereas the DWDM system can be delivered with any number of channels up to 40. Network Electronics' "ConQuer" digital glue product range will introduce the LIS-SDI Line Synchronizer, the DLY-SDI Video Delay, the D-422-MG multiple RS-422/GPI multiplexer and the serial digital video distribution amplifiers DA-SDI and DA-HDSDI. The ConQuer family is comprised of analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog video and audio converters, embedders, de-embedders, audio muxers, frame-synchronizers and audio delays.
