SAN FRANCISCO -- NetLogic Microsystems, Inc., a provider of search engine technology, today announced plans to seamlessly interface NetLogic's family of network search engines (NSEs) and classification and forwarding processors (CFPs) to the new Intel(R) IXP2800 and IXP2400 Network Processors. The integrated platform allows multiple Intel network processors to simultaneously interface to NetLogic's devices without the use of additional hardware, such as an FPGA or ASIC. This dramatically reduces development time and cost for system designers, thus accelerating time-to-market for next-generation networking equipment. NetLogic Microsystems, an Intel(R) Internet Exchange Architecture Developer Network member, integrates the company's exclusive Multi-Processor Search Interface (MPSI) technology into its "glue-less" network search engines and packet classification and forwarding processors. This integrated interface allows the glue-less device to provide additional processing headroom, while maintaining the ability to arbitrate between multiple Intel network processors, the control plane and multiple network search engines. With the ability to support wire-speeds up to OC-192, the design solution is ideally suited for applications including Voice over IP (VoIP), streaming data, virtual private networks (VPNs), policy enforcement, Internet security, IPv4/IPv6 routing, load balancing, firewalling and Web caching.
