BEAVERTON, Ore. -- Strengthening its position as a leader in optical networking modules, Network Elements, Inc. (NEI), today announced that it will acquire a team of high-speed engineers from TriQuint Semiconductor's (Nasdaq:TQNT) Oregon location.

The team of approximately 20 engineers has a proven track record in 10Gb/s and 40Gb/s products. Acquiring this talent further sets Network Elements apart from its competition by having a complete set of skills in-house for optical module development. Network Elements' design talent now includes expertise in optics, packaging, mixed-signal ASICs, protocol-processing ASICs and software development. Combining all these capabilities in one company will accelerate the company's development of highly integrated optical networking modules and next-generation technology and products.

"The team we are acquiring is world class and we are proud to bring them into our company. There is great synergy between the customers and technologies of Network Elements and TriQuint Semiconductor that makes this talent acquisition, as well as future joint-product development between the companies, a natural fit," said Bruce Murdock, president and chief executive officer of Network Elements. "We now have the complete set of skills to build the most highly integrated modules with maximum cost-performance benefit for our customers."
