NEC Solutions America Gets CEO

RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. -- NEC Solutions (America), Inc., a premier provider of integrated solutions for the Connected Enterprise in North America, today announced the appointment Toshimitsu Iwanami as the new president and chief executive officer. Effective June 23, Mr. Iwanami officially assumes responsibility for managing NEC Solutions America and driving its Connected Enterprise vision.

Iwanami joins NEC Solutions America at a time when the company is launching its integrated solutions business. During CeBIT America in New York, June 18, 2003, NEC Solutions America will unveil its strategic plan for offering Enterprise Services as it relates to its vision of the Connected Enterprise.

Most recently, Iwanami served as executive general manager of NEC's First Solutions Business Unit working primarily with government, public, healthcare and educational organizations. As part of the e-Japan strategy dedicated to the digitization of public administration within central and local governments, Mr. Iwanami lead the team responsible for deploying the e-supply systems to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, as well as the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. This business unit successfully delivered biometric identification solution systems to law enforcement agencies around the world. For the healthcare market, he oversaw the delivery and management of order entry and electronic medical record solutions, such as the patient e-medical record card system at Osaka University Hospital. Mr. Iwanami holds a bachelors degree in applied mathematics from the University of Electro-Communications, Japan.

As president and CEO, Norio Tanoue was responsible for orchestrating the integration of three NEC companies to form NEC Solutions America on April 1, 2002. By unifying NEC Technologies, NEC Systems and NEC Computers, the company eliminated barriers to enable the company to quickly deliver integrated solutions to its customers. Tanoue will continue to serve NEC Solutions America as executive advisor to Iwanami.
