SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Napatech and Xilinx, Inc. (Nasdaq: XLNX - News) today announced the immediate availability of the industry's first 10 Gbps Programmable Ethernet Adapter. The 10 Gigabit NT10F Programmable Ethernet Adapter is the most powerful and advanced Network Interface Card available on the market today, allowing Ethernet connectivity at 10 Gbps. The adapter supports custom solutions through Xilinx® Virtex-II Pro(TM) FPGAs and onboard processors.

Custom features like packet tracing, packet filtering, data compression, protocol offload (TOE) and encryption / decryption algorithms can be added to the adapter hardware and processed at 10 Gbps line speeds. The NT10F Ethernet Adapter, with industry standard PCI/PCI-X interface, delivers the highest available throughput from its 10G optical interface.

"Napatech's solution is an important validation and demonstration of the packet processing power of our Virtex-II Pro FPGAs," said Robert Bielby, senior director of Strategic Solutions Marketing at Xilinx. "The NT10F is a very powerful platform for developing 10G Ethernet acceleration solutions like data compression, encryption/decryption and protocol offload."

"With the NT10F our customers will be able to create custom packet and data processing solutions running at 10G speeds," said Thomas Jorgensen, vice president of Sales at Napatech. "Our NT10F has created a high level of customer interest and we already have the first customer sales. The Virtex II PRO FPGA allows our customers to continuously add features and updates to their solutions in the field."
