MSF to Test IPv6

FREMONT, Calif. -- The Multiservice Switching Forum (MSF) announced today that it will incorporate an Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) test scenario into its GMI 2004 interoperability event. In a joint memorandum of understanding, the MSF and the North American IPv6 Task Force (NAv6TF) Moonv6 Project agreed to share technology expertise to create an IPv6 solution on an MSF network. The Moonv6 Project is a collaborative effort between the North American IPv6 Task Force, Regional IPv6 Forum Task Forces world wide, the University of New Hampshire's Interoperability Lab, Internet2, government, vendors and providers.

GMI 2004 will be conducted live October 4-16 at four carrier test labs: Qwest in the United States, BT in the United Kingdom, NTT in Japan and KT in Korea. The event will test state-of-the-art network elements key to supporting a fully integrated VoIP solution such as application servers, media servers, service brokers, call agents, bandwidth managers and other control and management systems against the specific protocols defined in MSF Implementation Agreements (IAs).

"The incorporation of IPv6 into the testing line-up will add a critical new element to the GMI 2004," said Roger Ward, president of the MSF. "GMI 2004 is a truly global event. The ubiquity of IPv6 in Asia and Europe and its future in North America make this agreement an important part of our test."
