Ericsson to demonstrate live LTE at 144 Mbit/s at 3GSM

STOCKHOLM -- Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) announced today that it would conduct a live demonstration of its cutting-edge Long-Term Evolution (LTE) system supporting Multiple In Multiple Out (MIMO) antenna technology with speeds of up to 144Mbps at the upcoming 3GSM World Congress trade fair in Barcelona February 12-15.
LTE is the next mobile broadband network standard, defined by 3GPP (Third Generation Partnership Project), set for release in 2007.
Ericsson's LTE demonstration will encompass a variety of applications and showcase speeds up to 144Mbps on a 20MHz carrier in the 2.6GHz frequency band.
Ulf Ewaldsson, Vice President and Head of Product Area Radio, Ericsson, says: "This demonstration marks the next evolutionary step in mobile communication and confirms Ericsson's commitment to LTE."
