LONDON -- The Ministry of Sound, international Media and Entertainment Company, has chosen Ethernet for its Internet connectivity, replacing traditional leased line technology. While the driver for the upgrade was Ministry’s need for additional dedicated bandwidth, it was the low price point that sealed the deal with Pure Ethernet provider Exponential-e.

Previously, the Ministry of Sound had a 3Mb capacity split over 2 leased lines (2Mb and 1Mb) but this was no longer sufficient bandwidth for the company’s growing requirements. The UK’s biggest dance club brand is involved in many areas of the music and entertainment industry, from the well-known London club venue to owning its own record label.

The Ministry of Sound has now selected a 5Mb connection from Ethernet service provider Exponential-e, the only provider to offer Internet access to businesses over a Pure Ethernet London Network. This connectivity is used for office Internet access and to provide web-mail access for the company’s many remote workers.

Commenting on the decision, IT Manager at Ministry of Sound, James Bacchus stated: “We were already familiar with Ethernet and the benefits it can deliver - access to much higher bandwidth levels for less cost, so to move to that technology was an obvious choice. We looked at several Ethernet providers but selected Exponential-e, as they were, by far, able to offer the best price. We have been using the service for several months now and are really pleased with the quality it offers.”

Lee Wade, Managing Director at Exponential-e added “Many businesses are starting to look at alternatives to traditional leased line technology for their Internet connectivity. Businesses like the Ministry of Sound often find that they have outgrown their bandwidth requirements, yet upgrading their existing leased lines would prove a massive drain on their IT budget. When businesses start to shop around they are surprised to find that Ethernet delivers the same benefits at dramatically reduced prices.”
