BOISE, Idaho and MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- Micron Technology, Inc., and NetLogic Microsystems, Inc., today announced the two companies signed a license agreement and will alternate source ternary content addressable memory (TCAM) devices within the TCAM search accelerator (TCAMsa) product family. "The terms of Micron and NetLogic’s agreement are unprecedented within the TCAM industry," said Jan du Preez, Micron’s Vice President of Networking and Communications. "Leveraging the existing expertise of both companies, Micron and NetLogic, collectively, are bringing together the necessary technology to meet the future needs of the TCAM search accelerator industry. This agreement strengthens Micron’s memory supplier position with the addition of TCAMsa products to our overall broad networking memory portfolio. In addition, Micron will continue to maintain a high-volume, low-cost approach to semiconductor manufacturing utilizing our advanced process technology to manufacture TCAM search accelerators."The products included in the agreement currently consist of the Glue-less TCAM (GLTCAM) product family, which maintains pin compatibility with NetLogic’s existing NSE4256GLQ device. The GLTCAM product family roadmap initially consists of 9, 18 and 36Mb devices. Micron and NetLogic believe they are the first TCAM search accelerator manufacturers to provide fully pin-and-function compatible devices. "Next-generation designs require a diverse mix of capabilities," said Niall Bartlett, NetLogic’s Vice President of Marketing.
