Marconi Launches Gig E Switches

PITTSBURGH -- Marconi (LONDON: MNI), a global supplier of advanced communications solutions, today expanded the solutions it can provide to enterprise and service provider customers with the introduction of two high-performance gigabit Ethernet switches -- the Ethernet Switch Router family, consisting of the ESR™-5000 and ESR-6000.

The Ethernet Switch Router products add to Marconi's solutions for enterprise and service provider customers who face a dynamic marketplace where the LAN/WAN network boundary is being blurred by the development of electronic business models. Marconi can now offer core-to-edge solutions for service providers taking aim at new revenue-generating services such as data center hosting, and for enterprises who want to realize the efficiencies of combining voice, video and data networks into a single cost-effective, high-performance network. Both switches operate with other Marconi products; both include Quality of Service support for converged applications.
