FREMONT, Calif. -- iTerra Communications LLC., announced today the availability of their newly developed family of 10Gb/s Lithium Niobate (LiNbO3) drivers capable of delivering up to 7.5Vpp amplitude from input voltages as low as 200mVpp, and with pricing starting at $65 in quantities of 1000 units. iTerra has chosen a parallel path approach in delivering both a low cost two-chip solution, utilizing a limiting amplifier pre-driver along with a high power output stage, as well as, a single-chip highly integrated solution with integrated biasing electronics. In pursuing this dual approach, iTerra is in a position to supply to cost sensitive solutions such as 10 Gigabit Ethernet, as well as, the highly integrated requirements from the telecom market. All of the driver solutions offered by iTerra will be delivered in surface mount packages. According to John DeAndrea, Director of Marketing and New Product Development, by developing a high output voltage solution, with low power dissipation, utilizing a low voltage 5 volt supply, iTerra Communications has enabled transponder manufacturers to incorporate X-cut Lithium Niobate modulators into their transponders. "By utilizing the existing multi-sourced supply of +5 volts iTerra's solution allows transponder vendors to eliminate DC-DC converters required by prior driver electronic chips," said DeAndrea. "Thereby saving transponder manufacturers layout space, power and cost." iTerra Communications LLC
