SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Infinera captured the number one position in high-speed long-haul optical networks in the third quarter 2005, according to a report published by leading independent market analysts the Dell'Oro Group. Infinera took 20% of the market for shipments of 10 gigabit long-haul optical systems worldwide.

Infinera began shipping its DTN optical system in December 2004. Its rapid rise to first place in this key market segment is due to the unique features of the DTN solution. Based on innovative photonic integration, the Infinera DTN enables service providers to deploy and manage massive amounts of bandwidth while offering industry-leading efficiency in terms of economics, space, and power.

"We are thrilled to rank first in the Dell'Oro figures only 10 months after we began shipping our product," said Jagdeep Singh, co-founder and CEO of Infinera. "We are gratified by the tremendous support we have received from our service provider customers worldwide. The fact that our system has been accepted and deployed so quickly on three continents by some of the world's top service providers speaks to the significant benefits offered by the DTN system, as well as the tremendous hard work and dedication of the team here at Infinera."
