WinAgents Updates Cisco IOS Config Editor
Winagents releases new Cisco IOS configuration editor
May 18, 2004
NEW YORK -- IOS Config Editor is a configuration editor for Cisco routers with extended options, like remote administration, backup options and multiple device support. Basically, IOS Config Editor is a straightforward text editor with syntax highlighting, bookmarks and convenient navigation for IOS devices (version 10 and above).
In addition to editing running and startup configuration files, this application comes with a TELNET console and embedded SYSLOG and TFTP severs, meaning there is no need to buy these components from a third party. The other administrator friendly features include an option to decrypt the type 7 passwords and keys in the configuration files, SMNP support (which is used to acquire configuration files from remote devices), and automated copying of configuration files to/from the routers.
Importantly, IOS Config Editor features a built-in backup manager, which allows system administrators to create reserve copies of configuration files and quickly revert to them, if necessary, even if the device itself is thousands of miles away. Plus, it saves a significant amount of time by automating routine tasks and making transferring configuration files from one device to another a snap. Starting with version 3.0, all IOS Config Editor users now have HTTP and SSH access options.
The program has passed rigorous security and usability testing and was judged to be one of the most reliable and economical solutions, currently available on the market.
