WESTFORD, Mass., and STAINES, U.K. -- Sonus Networks, (Nasdaq: SONS), a market leader in IP communications infrastructure, today announced the launch of Mobile SecurEdge, a secure IP-peering solution which brings mobile operators the benefits of end-to-end IP connectivity for international roaming and national peering traffic, ultimately providing their end-user customers with greater security, appropriate billing and higher quality for real-time services.

Mobile operators are quickly realizing the cost and performance benefits IP offers in the network. However, as they migrate to all-IP, they require unique solutions that enable them to interconnect legacy equipment with next-generation IP-core technology. Paramount to meeting this challenge is ensuring these connections are made seamlessly, in a cost-effective, highly scalable and efficient manner.

The Sonus Mobile SecurEdge solution provides wholesale carriers with a GSMA-compliant IPX proxy interconnect platform supporting multiple standards for signaling, network interworking and legacy TDM interworking. In this way, wholesale carriers can offer their mobile network operator customers best-in-class interworking solutions via Mobile SecurEdge platform connection to their IPX hubs.

"In a world that becomes more connected each day, IPX interworking is essential to driving the efficiency of our communications," commented Shailin Sehgal, vice president marketing and product management at Sonus Networks. "Interworking between different signaling standards enables mobile operators to connect via the IPX's multi-lateral interconnects without having to implement the complex interworking themselves. Sonus is committed to providing our customers with innovative solutions that support this evolution."

In a separate release:

Sonus Networks, (Nasdaq: SONS), a market leader in IP communications infrastructure, today announced the MobilEnterprise FMC, a business services solution which enables mobile and converged operators to respond cost effectively to the demands of smart phone users in enterprises across the world. This new solution enables operators to protect margins and reduce network costs in an increasingly price competitive market.

By anchoring session control at the application layer, rather than the session/bearer layer, Sonus has enabled device independent service mobility, enabling the user to take full advantage of enterprise features and leverage the growing usage of picocell technology to improve in-building coverage. With many workers using the mobile phone as their primary communication tool - inside the office or on the road - the ability to seamlessly connect is paramount.

"Many mobile operators are looking for faster evolution paths that will transform their networks from circuit based voice channels in combination with packet data, to becoming wholly IP based," commented Shailin Sehgal, vice president, marketing and product management at Sonus Networks. "This application layer solution allows the end user to use the device of their choice, while its hosted nature means that in-house management is no longer required, providing lower cost service delivery, greater quality of service and enhanced employee productivity. Seamless switching between the mobile and fixed IP network also ensures that calls are made on the most cost effective network while the reduced complexity means that the end user benefits from a single bill."

In a separate release:

Sonus Networks (Nasdaq: SONS), a market leader in IP communications infrastructure, today announced that its solutions for wireless carriers have been certified as part of PathFinder, the GSMA-managed service operated by NeuStar. The PathFinder initiative is dedicated to the simple delivery of IP-based services to fixed and mobile networks, reducing the cost and complexity of providing innovative new services.

PathFinder is based on Carrier ENUM technology, facilitating an interoperable, industry-wide solution which enables the routing of global IP service interconnect traffic. The service acts as a central directory where operators share IP and fixed-line addresses to allow swift and cost-effective routing of packet voice, instant messaging (IM), multimedia services, email and video. By assisting the linking of an IP address to a phone number for mobile devices, fixed-line phones and IP devices, the delivery of IP-based services is made easier.

"As a PathFinder Industry Partner, Sonus Networks is pleased to be part of an important initiative which seeks to promote the introduction of new services and revenue streams," said Shailin Sehgal, vice president of marketing and product management at Sonus Networks. "Sonus is committed to building interoperable solutions to help carriers migrate seamlessly from legacy systems to their next generation network. Protecting return on previous investments while positioning for future subscriber growth and new services is more important than ever for carriers in the current economic climate."
