BERLIN -- snom technology AG (www.snom.com), developer and manufacturer ofVoice-over-IP (VoIP) telephones, today announced the launch of itspartnership program for interoperability and technology partners. The aim ofthe program is to offer customers, and trade and installation partnerssimple, complete solutions within a young VoIP industry.

The market demand for plug-and-play solutions for small- and medium-sizedenterprises that can be easily integrated into existing networks andservices is on the rise. snom is addressing this demand by ensuring that itsphones are able to work with, and are certified as working with, a widevariety of IP-based platforms - resulting in realization of the highestperformance, complete solutions possible.

"Right now, there are so many VoIP component suppliers, that it is becomingincreasingly difficult for users and administrators to keep abreast ofdevelopments and to select the components most suitable for their specificrequirements. But going through all of these different component vendors isthe only way to currently take full advantage of open standard VoIPsolutions," said Dr. Michael Knieling, CFO and executive vice president ofmarketing and sales for snom. "If one component is SIP-based, it doesn'tnecessarily mean it will be completely interoperable with other SIP-basedproducts, which is why we have created this program - to make installationsinvolving snom's phones as easy and surprise-free as possible."

The snom Web page offers an overview of current companies and products thatcan be used with snom phones and with each other without any difficulties. In addition, the site displays whether interoperability partners havecompleted certification procedures that are currently available on twodifferent levels and can be viewed athttp://wiki.snom.com/wiki/index.php/Interoperability#SIP_PBX. Detailedinformation on the respective settings is also provided for integrators, specialist dealers and system administrators. From a technical standpoint, this new program ultimately offers solution bundles by the industry.

Essence, supplier of PBXs, and Simicomm, supplier of soft PBXs, are amongthe first companies to join snom's new interoperability partner program onthe first level; this level supports basic telephony functions, such asinitiating and terminating calls. Prerequisites for the next partner level, which includes companies such as Starface PBX and pbxnsip, are functionslike transferring a call, call waiting, Music on Hold, LED statusindicators, and integration of answering machines.

In order to strengthen these technological partnerships, snom is planning tobegin working more closely with partners in the planning stages of phonesand their roles in complete solutions moving forward - resulting in more ofa joint development solution.
