FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Global Crossing (NASDAQ: GLBC) announced today that USA Datanet -- a fast-growing integrated communications provider using advanced VoIP technology -- has selected Global Crossing's VoIP Service as the platform of choice to deliver voice, data and enhanced services to its U.S. residential and business customers.

Global Crossing was one of the first providers to deploy a global VoIP platform four years ago and currently runs more than 30 percent of its voice traffic over that platform, expected to grow to more than 40 percent by the end of this year. In addition, its IP network exceeded 99.999 percent availability for 2003, and achieved 100 percent for the last two months of the year.

Demonstrating its expertise and leadership in IP services, Global Crossing is integrating VoIP into its global voice network and predicts that 90 percent of all its voice traffic will be VoIP by 2006. By running packetized traffic over Global Crossing's private IP backbone, VoIP users reap the efficiencies associated with lower port and operational costs. Additionally, using VoIP accelerates the transition to converged communications, eliminating the need for separate voice and data networks and allowing for infrastructure consolidation.

"Global Crossing's industry-leading VoIP Service enables us to offer our customers a high-quality, low-cost alternative to traditional calling plans," said David M. Montanaro, chief executive officer and president of USA Datanet. "Global Crossing's dedication to customer service and innovative solutions has enhanced our next-generation service offering since 1999, and we're confident that our relationship will continue to grow."

Global Crossing's VoIP Services enables USA Datanet to deliver high-quality voice services to its domestic and international long distance customers, at a lower cost than traditional voice providers. USA Datanet removes the constraints of traditional calling plans by offering its residential and business customers per-call pricing rather than minute-based pricing.

"USA Datanet is one of the new VoIP companies that are changing the way people and businesses communicate by relying on IP-based services and the freedom and quality they offer," said Ted Higase, Global Crossing's executive vice president, carrier sales. "IP is the future, and our global, resilient network, which reaches 500 cities in 50 countries on 5 continents, delivers these benefits today."

Global Crossing has been providing USA Datanet with a full suite of voice, data and IP services since 1999, including Carrier Outbound Services, Private Line and IP Transit for their corporate backbone. Global Crossing VoIP Service provides key functionality for delivering IP convergence of voice, video and data traffic into a single connection worldwide. Global Crossing's mission is to become the market leader of global data and IP services building upon Global Crossing's unique network and technology advantages.

"As the pace of innovation in VoIP technology and services intensifies, Atlantic-ACM is revising upwards its market projections for the expected growth in VoIP services over the next five-year period," stated Judy Reed Smith, chief executive officer of Atlantic-ACM. "Global Crossing is an example of a leading-edge global service provider that is contributing towards the accelerated pace of VoIP innovation and service adoption, leveraging its early deployment of a global MPLS-based IP network and years of experience delivering carrier-class TDM voice and VoIP services to both carrier and enterprise customers."
