CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- US LEC Corp. (Nasdaq: CLEC - News), a telecommunications carrier serving businesses and enterprise organizations throughout the Eastern United States, today announced the continued roll out of its advanced IP data product set with the introduction of metro Multi-Protocol Label Switching Virtual Private Network (MPLS VPN) service. US LEC's MPLS VPN service is an IP-based virtual private network that supports quality of service (QoS), enabling the prioritization of traffic into two classes by utilizing the most innovative routing technology available today. As the latest addition to US LEC's advanced data networking portfolio, MPLS VPN can provide customers with an effective data solution to meet the changing access requirements for their business.

"Customers demand flexibility and security from the data networks that serve as the lifeline of their business," said Jeff Blackey, senior vice president of marketing and business development for US LEC. "We recognize the challenge that growing businesses have with linking multiple office locations to corporate resources, especially when each location may have its own evolving needs in terms of bandwidth and network performance. Our MPLS VPN operates over a secure network that is optimized for each customer and uses priority queuing to adjust, moment by moment, to the demands of priority applications. US LEC delivers an efficient solution that allows us to offer QoS on our IP-based traffic, which is a growing customer requirement."

MPLS VPN is an advanced network technology designed to support emerging IP applications such as Voice over IP (VoIP) as well as legacy private data networking applications. The VPN service is transported over US LEC's IP backbone, which utilizes the security and flexibility of MPLS. The US LEC network-based solution enables customers to integrate multiple locations securely into one seamless network by providing flexible connectivity and a higher degree of security than traditional Internet networks.

Blackey continued, "We understand that scalability is also critical as it relates to the unique access requirements of customers, and particularly for their networks that are designed from the ground up to support IP-based applications such as VoIP PBXs and Intranets. The US LEC solution is flexible in that it can be combined with any of our voice and data services and allows us to deploy scalable VPNs and build the foundation to deliver value-added services for our customers."
