Belgian cable provider Telenet selects Alcatel's 7750 IP service router for its broadband service netwotk

PARIS -- Alcatel (Paris: CGEP.PA and NYSE: ALA) today announced it has beenselected by Telenet, the premier Belgian cable operator, to provide its carrier-class IP service routerfor Telenet’s Internet protocol (IP)-based broadband service network. Designed specifically for thedelivery of high value services, the Alcatel 7750 Service Router (SR) will enable Telenet to achievegreater network profitability by offering high-speed Internet services over a reliable IP/MPLS (Multi-Protocol Label Switching) network. Future services like interactive digital TV, integrated data andvoice services, and a range of advanced services for the enterprise market will also use the Alcatelservice routers.

The Alcatel 7750 SR is the industry's first IP/MPLS router designed and optimized for the delivery ofscalable and profitable advanced Internet and private data services that allow service providers toattract and retain a wider customer base at a lower cost. Using the Alcatel 7750 SR’s uniquehierarchical quality of service (QoS) capabilities, Telenet can differentiate the traffic it carriestherefore guaranteeing varying classes of service to its customers. As a result, Telenet can introducehigh value services more quickly and realize a faster return on its investment.
