SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq:JNPR - News) today announced that Telefonica has selected its entire suite of routing platforms for Telefonica's new IP backbone network. While initially deployed to support the voice service offer expansion throughout Brazil, Telefonica's Next-Generation Network (NGN) will ultimately enable the convergence of voice, data and video services in a single network, and will be installed and supported by Siemens Brasil Ltd.

Telefonica selected the E-, M- and T-series routing platforms for their advanced feature set, leadership performance, reliability and scale. The M- and T-series will operate at the core of the network and will aggregate traffic delivered by the E-series operating at the edge. This network deployment will enable Telefonica to expand their geographic reach and deliver services nationwide.

"Telefonica is transforming their business of networking with a new IP infrastructure that will enable them to offer new revenue-generating services beyond traditional voice offerings to an expanded market," said Tim Lambie, vice president, Canada and Latin America Sales, Juniper Networks. "Juniper's M- and T-series routing platforms will augment Telefonica's existing deployment of E-series, validating Juniper's ability to meet the stringent requirements of the world's leading service providers."
