Spirent Remembers David Gellerman

Spirent plc (NYSE: SPM; London: SPT) officials gathered in Frederick, Md., today to pay their respects to Dave Gellerman who died Saturday in an auto accident. Gellerman, most recently VP of marketing for the company's Service Assurance - Broadband group, was 45.

"Our thoughts are with David's family at this time of great loss. We wish them the very best and will always consider them to be a part of Spirent's extended family," said Jim Schleckser, president, of the Service Assurance - Broadband unit, in a statement provided to Light Reading. "David was a rare and special individual. As we celebrate his life, he will always be remembered as an important part of our history and for his significant contributions over the many years." Gellerman, a long-time veteran of Spirent, was a familiar face in the industry, a frequent speaker at industry events, and a fixture at tradeshows. He was responsible for Spirent's service assurance technology strategy and corporate development functions. He also represented Spirent on the board of Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS).

According to Spirent, Gellerman started his career there as a software engineer, moving up through numerous engineering management roles before transitioning to director of product planning, and, finally, marketing and business development roles.

Gellerman spent five years as a marketing executive at Newbridge Networks (now Alcatel SA) before moving to Spirent.

He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Virginia Tech.

A memorial trust fund has been established in David's honor for the education of his children, Spirent says. Contributions can be made to Gellerman Memorial Fund, c/o Spirent Communications, 15200 Omega Dr., Rockville, MD 20850.

re: Spirent Remembers David Gellerman Let's remember that the road to the Executive washroom is littered with peckerwoods. Few will miss Dave.
