SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Redback Networks Inc., an Ericsson company that makes video-centric routers for 75 percent of the world's triple-play networks, today announced it has expanded its presence in the Middle East with the addition of Zajil Telecom, one of the largest and foremost service providers in Saudi Arabia.

Zajil Telecom will use the SmartEdge® 400 Multi-Service Edge Routers to deliver high-speed internet services to a growing network of business and residential customers. To meet the demands of tens of thousands of residential and business subscribers in Saudi Arabia, Zajil Telecom will power its service with multiple SmartEdge 400 Multi-Service Edge Routers and Redback’s NetOp Policy Manager, a dynamic policy management system for implementing and managing subscriber services.

“Our partnership with Redback further enhances our infrastructure base and strengthens our ability to serve a larger base of customers across various business segments,” said Essam Tarifee, Operations Manager of Zajil Telecom. “Rapid adoption of the Internet in Saudi Arabia has fueled demand for high speed broadband services, and opened up new opportunities that we can now leverage with Redback.”

“The addition of Zajil Telecom in Saudi Arabia represents a strategic customer win for Redback in the Middle East region, as it reinforces our leadership in this emerging market and capabilities of the SmartEdge router,” said Magnus Almquist, vice president sales and operations for Europe, the Middle East and Africa at Redback. “Zajil Telecom is a pioneer and driving force behind the adoption of next generation services in Saudi Arabia, and we applaud their success in making these services more accessible to the population of this burgeoning region.”
