SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: JNPR) today announced that Cox Communications, a multiservice broadband company with over 6.6 million customers, including over 1 million triple play customers (video, telephony and high-speed Internet), has chosen to expand its network with Juniper Networks routing platforms. As the second phase of its national backbone evolution, Cox is upgrading its entire core network with Juniper Networks T-series core routing platforms to increase scalability and performance.

"Since 2001, Juniper Networks has consistently delivered advanced capabilities, performance, and the reliability Cox customers expect. We are pleased to continue this relationship as we evolve our nationwide broadband network." said Jay Rolls, vice president of Telephone and Data Engineering, Cox Communications. "Continuing to upgrade the national backbone enables us to effectively support demanding applications for our customers such as advanced video and voice over IP."

Cox previously deployed Juniper Networks M- and T-series routing platforms to support multiple applications including peering, Cable Modem Termination System (CMTS) aggregation, high-speed Internet and video in its metro core networks. With emerging, advanced real-time services such as video and voice requiring more performance, higher reliability and assured quality of service, Cox is now upgrading with T640 core routers to ensure the company can continue to meet more stringent service level agreements and maintain its place as the industry leader in customer satisfaction.

Cox will leverage the M- and T-series' industry-leading MPLS and point-to-multipoint capabilities to provide a seamless, nationwide network for the delivery of data, voice, video and mission-critical applications to Cox customers.
