SHERBROOKE, Canada -- M5T, the leading provider of Secure Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) software solutions for secure real-time multimedia communications over IP, announced today the release of its M5T SIGCOMP, an essential signalling compression module for the development of SIP-based communication devices.

“There has been a tremendous response to the introduction of our M5T SIGCOMP as an increasing number of manufacturers design products for the multimedia communications over IP market,” said Stefano Genoni, vice-president, business development at M5T. "We are striving hard towards our commitment to support emerging standards enabling our customers to build seamless, cutting-edge products for today’s market place."

The M5T SIGCOMP is an RFC 3320 compliant component that enables the compression and decompression of SIP signals. Since SIP is a text-based protocol; it was not originally designed to optimize the size of a message. With the advent of low-rate IP connectivity such as through cellular networks and with the adoption of SIP by 3GPP/3GGP2 in the IMS architecture, a solution was needed to ensure the speed and efficiency of call setup and feature invocation.

Combined with the M5T Framework, M5T SIGCOMP is ported to the following operating systems: Linux, VxWorks, Windows, WindowsCE
