Luminous Networks hires ex-Alcatel exec Chris Stark as president and CEO, replacing Alex Naqvi, who continues as Chairman of the board

CUPERTINO, Calif. -- Luminous NetworksÔ, a leading provider of multi-service provisioning platforms that support voice, data, video, and wavelength services, announced today that it has appointed Chris Stark to the position of President and CEO. Founding Luminous Networks President and CEO, Alex Naqvi, will continue to provide strategic direction for the company as Chairman of the Board of Directors.

“Chris Stark possesses a wealth of world-class experience in the optical networking space and has a strong leadership profile,” said Alex Naqvi, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Luminous Networks. “We are confident that he will lead the company to a new level of success within the metro transport market.”

Mr. Stark brings more than 18 years experience in leading successful optical business units at Alcatel. Most recently, he was the Group Vice President of Alcatel Optics, North America, a multi-billion dollar business unit he helped form and grow. Prior to his most recent assignment, Mr. Stark held positions as Vice President and General Manager of Intelligent Optical Networks Division at Alcatel and Technology Marketing Director for Alcatel’s Telecom Corporate Office. Mr. Stark earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical and electronic engineering from Plymouth University in England.
