LONDON -- Equant (NYSE: ENT) (Euronext Paris: EQU), a recognised industry leader in global IP and data services to multinational businesses, announced that Kuehne & Nagel has joined its growing list of IP VPN customers.

Kuehne & Nagel, a leading global transport and logistics group, will expand its services from Equant with a new IP VPN contract. Equant has been providing the company with LAN Access services since 1999 to connect offices and other facilities in more than 35 countries. Equant has also provided Project Management and Network Analysis services for Kuehne & Nagel. The latest contract builds on this strong relationship with a cost-effective Equant IP VPN solution to connect 72 additional sites throughout Europe.

"Equant has proven itself to be a reliable partner that can deliver service where we need it, reliably and cost effectively," said Michael Dembeck, manager of Corporate Network, Kuehne & Nagel. "Equant IP VPN, using its three classes of service, will help us prevent network bottlenecks by prioritising business-critical traffic to maintain optimum application response time at peak periods."

Kuehne & Nagel selected Equant IP VPN to deliver the following benefits:

  • Any-to-any connectivity that allows new offices to be added quickly with "plug and play" capabilities

  • Robust and reliable networking to deliver mission-critical applications

  • Flexibility to add extranet partners to the network

  • A solid business platform for future convergence services such as Voice and Video for IP VPN

  • Dedicated customer service through a designated Customer Service Manager, a local support team, and Global Customer Service Centers in every region of the world

"We welcome Kuehne & Nagel to our growing IP VPN family," said Michel Picaud, Equant's senior vice-president, Markets and Sales, Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa. "We are pleased that our former relationship proved so successful and are confident the new IP VPN services will give Kuehne & Nagel additional competitive advantages."
