SAN JOSE, Calif. -- IntruVert Networks (www.intruvert.com), a leading developer of next generation intrusion detection and prevention systems, today announced that the IntruShield 4000 (I-4000) earned first place in a head-to-head product comparison in the industry's first independent gigabit network intrusion detection system (IDS) test. Five leading commercial network IDS vendors and one open-source IDS package participated in the test, which was designed and conducted by Miercom. Other companies participating in the test include: Enterasys Networks [NYSE: ETS], Internet Security Systems [NASDAQ NM: ISSX], Intrusion, Inc. [NASDAQ NM: INTZ], and Recourse Technologies (now Symantec Corp.) [NASDAQ NM: SYMC]. The comprehensive test methodology measured the detection performance of IDS products at gigabit speeds with test criteria including IDS accuracy under various load conditions, management, product features and ease of configuration. The tests subjected each IDS to a broad range of attacks to determine false positives and false negatives that included: known attacks, surveillance attacks and probes, Denial of Service attacks and IDS evasion attacks. All of the products were tested in two phases: out of the box and after vendor tuning. The IntruShield 4000 was ranked number one, scoring 4.3 out of 5.0 points, and led the test in each of the comprehensive test criteria. The product was called a "bright spot" in comparison to the other legacy and next-generation IDS products.IntruVert Networks Inc.
