Genesys appoints Laurent Philonenko chief operating officer; chief technology officer to assume larger role in daily operations

SAN FRANCISCO -- Genesys Telecommunications Laboratories, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Alcatel (NYSE: ALA, Paris: CGEP.PA), today announced that Chief Technology Officer Laurent Philonenko will expand his role within the company, assuming the title of Chief Operating Officer and overseeing day-to-day operations. As Executive Vice President and CTO for Genesys, Mr. Philonenko has been responsible for the company's technological direction, including engineering, product management, technical support and program management activities. Previously, he held the Senior Vice President and General Manager position for Genesys' Service Provider Business Unit, serving telecommunications carriers and ASPs. "Laurent has guided our technology development and brought the company to the forefront of advanced solutions for contact centers," said Ad Nederlof, CEO of Genesys. "He also has a stellar track-record in managing internal operations and business development for various units within Genesys, Alcatel and Digital. By integrating these functions, Laurent will help drive our product innovations out to market faster, delivering greater value to our customers while maintaining financially-sound and efficient operations." Before joining Genesys in early 2000, Mr. Philonenko was Senior Vice President of Alcatel's Network Applications Division, where he was in charge of the Network Software Solutions group. Mr. Philonenko's contributions helped Alcatel's Intelligent Networks business to grow by more than 100% in 1999, establishing its current market leadership position. He previously served as Vice President of Alcatel's network management business unit, where he helped the related switching division grow six-fold in three years.
