SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Fortinet – the only provider of ASIC-powered, network-based antivirus firewall systems for real-time network protection – today announced the FortiManager System, an integrated management and monitoring tool that enables enterprises and services providers to automate the deployment and lifecycle management of dozens, hundreds or thousands of FortiGate Antivirus Firewalls across multiple, geographically dispersed installations. The FortiManager System is built on a powerful architecture emphasizing reliability, scalability, ease of use and easy integration with third party systems, providing a central point of control for establishing multi-faceted security policies, monitoring system status, and logging traffic and threat activity. Deployed as a multi-tiered system – which includes the powerful FortiManager Server appliance and the Java-based FortiManager Console – the FortiManager system is designed to support straightforward integration with carrier-grade provisioning and subscriber management systems, making it an ideal platform for offering managed security services. The key features of the FortiManager System, designed and developed by Fortinet, allow customers to harness the full power and capabilities of the FortiGate platforms’ unique, integrated functionality on a wider scale than ever before. They include:

  • Multi-tier architecture with appliance-based FortiManager Server and Java-based FortiManager Consoles, which maximizes scalability and security and simplifies deployment

  • Comprehensive element management capabilities that centralize configuration and monitoring of all FortiGate network protection functions, including antivirus, content filtering, firewall, VPN, network intrusion detection and traffic shaping

  • Real-time status and event monitoring that speeds identification and response to system outages

  • Centralized logging that facilitates comprehensive report generation and analysis

  • Device grouping that enables collections of FortiGate units to be aggregated into independent management domains that control administrative access and simplify policy deployment

  • Role-based administration that enables different administrators to be restricted to specific management domains and specific functions

“Many of our enterprise and service provider customers have been asking for a tool that will enable them to easily deploy and manage large numbers of FortiGate Antivirus Firewalls, and based on their enthusiastic feedback, we’re confident that the FortiManager System meets their needs,” said Richard Kagan, vice president of marketing at Fortinet. “By enabling users to define and deploy sophisticated security policies uniformly and to centralize reporting, the FortiManager System improves security while minimizing administrative costs.”Fortinet Inc.
