F5 Networks deploys Cavium Networks' Nitrox security processors across BIG-IP switch family

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Cavium Networks, the leader in content and security processing with the industry's broadest product line, today announced that F5 Networks Inc. (Nasdaq: FFIV - News) has integrated the Cavium Networks NITROX Security Processors in the recently introduced F5 BIG-IP Application Switch family to deliver record SSL performance. F5's BIG-IP is an industry leading local area application traffic management solution that delivers high availability, performance optimization, security, and scalability for any IP application. The NITROX Security Processors have been integrated into F5's BIG-IP 6400, BIG-IP 3400 and BIG-IP 1500. With the increased SSL performance enabled by Cavium Networks, enterprises, data-centers and service providers will now no longer have to choose between security and performance, thereby driving incredible economies of scale and enabling an organization to cost-effectively enable encryption services everywhere.

Cavium Networks' NITROX Security Processor Family is the industry's widest family of security processors delivering the broadest range of performance with rich feature set. Performance ranges from 900 to 28,000 RSA Ops/second. NITROX Processors are the first and only processors to support SSL TPS and record processing with dynamic adaptability between symmetric and asymmetric processing. The NITROX processors are being used by server motherboard vendors and OEMs in a wide range of networking equipment to accelerate security applications including IPsec VPNs, SSL VPNs, web-servers, load balancers, content switches, application firewalls, wireless gateways and routers. All processors come with extensive software support that includes multiple operating systems, drivers, APIs and protocols. API and Protocol support is provided for OpenSSL, RSA BSAFE®. Web Servers supported are Apache and Microsoft® IIS.
