PLANO, TX -- MASERGY, a privately held global network services provider, today announced the promotion of Chris MacFarland to chief executive officer and Rob Bodnar to executive vice president and chief financial officer.

MASERGY provides cutting-edge communications services to the Global 5000 in a unique and highly cost-effective manner. Its purpose-built MPLS network platform hosts a variety of customers requiring real-time, mission critical network communications on a global basis. With an innovative product set that virtualises disparate communications access technologies into a simple Ethernet connection, MASERGY has been doing for the WAN, what cloud computing providers are trying to do in the data centre.

Chris MacFarland joined MASERGY as chief operating officer in 2008. Under his guidance, the company has grown its revenue and profitability during one of the most economically challenging times while increasing its lead in customer satisfaction with technological leadership.

“Chris has demonstrated outstanding leadership in guiding MASERGY over the past two years, and the Board wanted to secure his talent for the company’s next phase of growth,” said Royce Holland, executive chairman of MASERGY. “We believe Chris has the vision, energy and experience to lead MASERGY as it prepares to deliver the next generation of corporate networking solutions.” With more than 19 years experience in the telecommunications, software and computer hardware industries, MacFarland has held a variety of executive leadership roles for MASERGY, PAETEC Holdings, McLeodUSA, BroadSoft, Allegiance Telecom, Verio and CompuNet. He also serves on the board of directors for Access Media 3 as an independent director.

Rob Bodnar has served as chief financial officer since 2005, steering the company through continuous top-line and EBITDA growth, achieving a cash-flow positive balance sheet and eliminating all debt. The company attained this financial success during the current global economic downturn, while maintaining employee levels, improving employee benefits, expanding capital investment and growing the customer base.

“Rob has provided sound financial advice and insight to the Board as we contemplated the company’s direction over the past few years,” said Holland. “He is intimately familiar with MASERGY’s business, and his financial leadership has been key to the company’s growth. Rob’s continued leadership will be critical as MASERGY positions itself for the future.”

Bodnar has applied more than 20 years of experience in corporate finance and accounting to his role as CFO of MASERGY. As executive vice president, Bodnar will be responsible for formulating capital formation strategy and leading M&A efforts, in addition to his current role of overseeing the finance, accounting and network access management teams at MASERGY. Prior to joining MASERGY, Bodnar served as vice president and CFO at Covaro Networks, where he was responsible for the financial, legal, human resources and administrative functions of the company. Covaro’s operations were sold to ADVA Optical Networking in early 2006.
